Gujarat Launches Data Centre Policy Aiming for ₹6 Lakh Crore Investment
Gujarat has introduced its first Data Centre Policy for 2026-2029, aiming to attract investments worth ₹6 lakh crore and establish 7.5 GW of data centre capacity. This initiative positions Gujarat to compete with states like Maharashtra and Telangana in the digital economy. The policy offers various incentives, including capital subsidies, power tariff support, and assistance for desalination plants to address high water needs. Gujarat generates nearly 20% of the world’s data but holds only about 3% of global data centre capacity. The state plans to leverage its renewable energy resources and extensive industrial land to create a conducive environment for technology investments, particularly in AI and cloud computing.
