Joshua Wong Sentenced to Additional 10 Years in Hong Kong
Hong Kong democracy activist Joshua Wong received a 10-year prison sentence on Thursday for conspiracy to collude with foreign forces under national security legislation. Wong, 30, has been in custody since November 2020 and is now expected to remain incarcerated until late 2036. The court described his actions as 'grave' and noted that he had previously faced a potential life sentence. Wong is already serving a four-year-and-eight-month sentence related to a national security case. His latest conviction adds to the ongoing crackdown on dissent in Hong Kong, which has intensified since the implementation of the national security law in 2020.
