Haryana Preacher Detained in Connection with Terror Module Investigation
Maulvi Ishtiyaq, a preacher from Mewat, Haryana, was detained on November 12 by Jammu and Kashmir Police following the recovery of 2,500 kg of explosives from his residence. This arrest is linked to a 'white-collar' terror module that was uncovered on November 10, leading to eight arrests, including three doctors. The investigation began after posters of the banned Jaish-e-Mohammed appeared in Srinagar. Ishtiyaq claimed he was storing what he believed to be fertilisers for Dr. Muzammil Ganaie and Dr. Umar-un-Nabi, who allegedly owed him ₹2,500 in unpaid rent. The police noted the contrast between the seriousness of the charges and Ishtiyaq's focus on recovering the rent. He has been transferred to the State Investigation Agency for further action.
