ECI Allows Voters Marked ASDD to Refill Enumeration Forms
Voters marked as Absent, Shifted, Dead, and Duplicate (ASDD) in seven states can now refill Enumeration Forms to regain their place on electoral rolls. This directive from the Election Commission of India (ECI) follows a Supreme Court ruling on October 28, which questioned the use of Form 6 for re-inclusion. The ECI has instructed that lists of ASDD electors be displayed at polling stations, detailing reasons for their exclusion. Voters who have not changed their residence must submit a filled Enumeration Form and a statement explaining their earlier non-submission. Those who have shifted must provide their new address. Previously, over 13 crore voters faced potential exclusion due to the SIR process, prompting criticism from political leaders regarding the handling of voter registrations.
