Vizhinjam Seaport Handles 20 Lakh TEUs in 18 Months

The Vizhinjam International Seaport in Kerala has handled 20 lakh TEUs of cargo in 18 months, nearly doubling its annual capacity. Developed by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd. for the Kerala government, it is the first Indian port to achieve this milestone in record time. The port has accommodated over 950 vessels, including 67 Ultra Large Container Vessels. Its strategic location near the Indian Ocean corridor enhances its competitiveness for global trade. The ongoing Phase 2 expansion, with an investment of approximately ₹16,000 crore, aims to significantly boost container handling capacity and is expected to be completed by 2028.
