Uttarakhand Faces Disruptions Due to Heavy Rainfall and Landslides
Uttarakhand has experienced continuous rainfall over the past 24 hours, leading to elevated river levels and landslides that disrupted traffic on 107 routes, including nine state highways. The Meteorological Department issued a 'Red Alert' for very heavy rainfall in seven districts, including Dehradun, and an 'Orange Alert' for others on July 9, 2026. Rainfall data shows Kashipur received the highest at 206 mm, followed by Jaspur at 190 mm. The State Emergency Operation Centre reported that landslides damaged an unoccupied house in Tehri district. Rising water levels were noted in several rivers, although they remain below the danger mark. Authorities have advised residents to avoid travel in vulnerable areas and stay clear of rivers and landslide-prone zones.
