US Trade Deficit Increases to $105.6 Billion in August
The US trade deficit widened by 13.7% in August, reaching $105.6 billion, according to data from the Commerce Department's Bureau of Economic Analysis and Census Bureau. This figure exceeded economists' expectations of $102 billion. The increase was primarily driven by a 4.3% rise in total imports, amounting to $420.8 billion, while exports saw a smaller increase of 1.4%, totaling $315.2 billion. Goods imports rose by 5.3% to $342.2 billion, in contrast to a 2.2% increase in goods exports, which reached $205.7 billion. This trend indicates continued pressure on economic growth for the third consecutive quarter.
