North America Implements Ebola Travel Measures Ahead of World Cup

The United States, Mexico, and Canada have announced public health travel measures in response to an Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, declared a public health emergency by the WHO on May 17. The US has banned non-citizens who have recently traveled to the DRC, Uganda, or South Sudan, extending this to green card holders as well. Canada has imposed a 90-day entry ban for residents from these countries and requires quarantines for citizens and foreign nationals returning from affected areas. Mexico's Health Secretary has introduced stricter airport screening and advised against travel to the DRC, mandating a 21-day quarantine for arrivals from the region.
