US Judge Orders Removal of Trump's Name from Kennedy Center
A federal judge in Washington, D.C., ruled that President Donald Trump's name must be removed from the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The decision, made by District Judge Christopher Cooper, stated that the Kennedy Center board exceeded its authority by adding Trump's name and that only Congress can change the center's name. The judge also blocked plans for a prolonged closure of the venue for renovations, deeming the board's March 16 vote as 'ill-informed.' The ruling requires the removal of all signage bearing Trump's name within 14 days, while allowing limited renovation work to proceed. This follows a December 2025 decision by the board to rename the center, which faced opposition from various stakeholders, including lawmakers and historians.
