Qatar and Iran Discuss Strait of Hormuz Amid Diplomatic Efforts
On Thursday, Qatar's Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani met Iranian officials in Tehran to discuss regional security and stability, focusing on the Strait of Hormuz. The discussions included a proposed temporary navigational corridor and cooperation to clear mines in the strait. Concurrently, Iran's security chief Mohsen Rezaei announced that Tehran is preparing conditions to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, contingent on US actions, including lifting sanctions. Rezaei stated that Iran has exported between 70 million and 80 million barrels of oil, returning to pre-sanction levels. The US has confirmed there are no ongoing negotiations with Iran, while CENTCOM reiterated that the strait remains an international waterway.
