India Boosts LPG Storage Amid West Asia Supply Concerns

The Indian government has directed state-run oil marketing companies to enhance liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) storage infrastructure and maintain reserves for at least 30 days of demand. This decision follows disruptions in global energy supplies due to ongoing conflicts in West Asia, affecting 90 per cent of India's LPG imports. Currently, Indian refineries are operating at optimal levels, producing around 52,000 tonnes of LPG daily. Fuel sales have surged, with over 150 districts reporting more than 30 per cent growth in petrol sales. The government is monitoring the situation closely and has advised against panic buying while implementing measures to prevent hoarding and black marketing.
