India, US Cooperation Strengthens Amid Gangster Indictments
India's external affairs ministry affirmed its commitment to combating terrorism and trans-national crime following US indictments of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his associate Satinderjeet Singh for the 2023 killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. The US indictment, part of Operation Hard Ball, led to the arrest of 24 individuals linked to three India-based criminal gangs. Royal Canadian Mounted Police confirmed no evidence implicating Indian officials in Nijjar's murder, contradicting earlier allegations by former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. India and the US have enhanced cooperation in law enforcement to tackle organized crime, with the FBI offering a $50,000 bounty for information on Brar, who has been linked to extortion and narcotics trafficking.
