Delhi High Court Denies Kuldeep Sengar Bail in Custodial Death Case
The Delhi High Court has rejected Kuldeep Singh Sengar's plea to suspend his 10-year sentence related to the custodial death of the Unnao rape survivor's father. Sengar, a former BJP MLA, has been in custody since April 13, 2018. The court's decision, pronounced by Justice Ravinder Dudeja, highlighted the seriousness of the offences and the ongoing appeal process. Sengar's conviction stems from a 2019 trial court ruling, which also imposed a ₹10 lakh fine. The survivor's father died in police custody on April 9, 2018, after being arrested under the Arms Act at Sengar's behest. Sengar is also serving a life sentence for the rape of a minor in a separate case. His appeals against both convictions are pending in the high court.
