India and UAE Sign Strategic Defence Partnership and Multiple Agreements
India and the UAE signed a letter of intent for a strategic defence partnership on Monday during President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's visit to New Delhi. The visit resulted in five agreements, including a space collaboration and a deal for HPCL to purchase 0.5 million metric tonnes of LNG annually from ADNOC Gas for 10 years. Both countries aim to double bilateral trade to $200 billion by 2032 and discussed the India-Middle East-Europe Corridor initiative. The defence partnership will enhance cooperation in areas such as defence innovation, training, and counterterrorism. Additionally, UAE companies will establish operations in Gujarat's GIFT City, and a special investment region will be developed in Dholera, including key infrastructure projects.
