US Refund System for Unconstitutional Tariffs Launches April 20
A new refund system for businesses that paid unconstitutional tariffs will open on April 20 at 8 a.m., as announced by US Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Importers can file claims online to recover approximately $127 billion in refunds, including interest, from over 330,000 importers who paid around $166 billion under these tariffs. The initial phase will cover specific tariff entries, and refunds will be directed to businesses rather than consumers. Delivery firms like FedEx and UPS are expected to pass on refunds to customers once received. CBP will roll out the system in phases, prioritising recent payments, but warns that technical issues may delay approvals. Businesses are advised to ensure accurate filings to avoid rejections.
