Trump Administration Delays Childhood Vaccination Recommendations Amid Measles …

Health officials in the Trump administration are expected to miss a Sunday deadline for new childhood vaccination recommendations. An executive order signed in August mandated a plan within 90 days to separate the measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine into individual shots. As of November 6, the CDC reported 5,182 measles cases across 45 states, with Pennsylvania recording the highest number and six measles-associated deaths. The Pan American Health Organization will assess whether the US has experienced ongoing measles transmission for over 12 months, which could jeopardize the country’s elimination status. The HHS Task Force on Safer Childhood Vaccines is working on the recommendations, focusing on vaccine safety and transparency.
