Gunmen Ambush Goods Convoy in Manipur, Driver Killed, Constable Injured
On May 29, 2026, unidentified gunmen ambushed a goods convoy on National Highway 202 in Manipur's Ukhrul district, resulting in the death of 65-year-old truck driver Nitish Das from West Bengal and injuries to a police constable. The attack occurred around 11 a.m. near TM Kasom village, shortly after local protests had blocked the convoy's path. The injured constable, Disingam Maringmei, was taken to a hospital for treatment.
