India Confirms No Energy Shortage Amid Global Supply Concerns

Petroleum Minister Hardeep Puri stated there is no energy shortage in India, assuring consumers of stable fuel availability. Indian Oil Corporation dismissed social media claims of petrol and diesel shortages as baseless, confirming sufficient fuel stocks and normal supply operations. Government sources indicated that India is well-positioned regarding crude oil and LPG supplies, despite potential disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz. The country has diversified its crude import sources significantly, with Russia supplying about 20 per cent of total imports as of February. Additionally, LPG production is set to increase, with imports from the US initiated in January. Indian oil companies have also signed a contract to import 2.2 MTPA of LPG from the US Gulf Coast for 2026.
