CBSE Finds School Ignored 18 Months of Bullying Complaints
A CBSE investigation into the suicide of a Class 4 student at Neerja Modi School in Jaipur revealed that the institution neglected 18 months of bullying complaints. The National Crime Records Bureau reports that student suicides account for 8.1% of total suicide deaths in India. Following the incident, the CBSE issued a notice to the school for gross violations. The girl's family has called for the school's de-affiliation, citing safety concerns for over 5,000 students. In response, India Today assessed safety measures at other Jaipur schools, uncovering varying levels of preparedness.
