Supreme Court Issues Contempt Notices to Kerala Congress Leaders

The Supreme Court issued contempt notices to Kerala Congress office-bearers over a deleted social media post targeting Chief Justice of India Surya Kant. The post, published on October 12, was removed after drawing criticism. The court will determine if the matter involves civil or criminal contempt. KPCC president Sunny Joseph stated the post was unauthorized and an apology was issued. A complaint by advocate Vineet Jindal, registered as a writ petition, also sought an inquiry into a political demonstration involving Congress leaders on the Supreme Court premises on the same day. The court emphasized that judicial independence is paramount and not subject to political convenience.
