Supreme Court Allows CBI Probe Against Punjab CM's OSD, Bars Arrests
The Supreme Court has allowed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to continue its probe into alleged corruption linked to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's office but has prohibited any coercive actions, including arrests, until the next hearing. This interim order follows a Punjab and Haryana High Court directive from October 5, which mandated the CBI to register a first information report (FIR) regarding the allegations. The CBI's FIR names six individuals, including Rajbir Singh Ghuman, and details a network involved in manipulating government processes for bribes. The case is politically significant as Punjab's assembly elections approach, with the Aam Aadmi Party alleging misuse of central agencies by the BJP-led government.
