Iran Reimposes Restrictions on Strait of Hormuz Amid US Blockade

Iran has reversed its decision to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, reimposing restrictions after US President Donald Trump stated that the American blockade would remain until a deal with Tehran is reached. The Strait of Hormuz, a vital maritime route for global oil and gas, sees about 20 million barrels of oil pass through daily, accounting for roughly one-fifth of global consumption. On Saturday, Iran's military command announced that control of the strait is under strict management, warning it would block transit as long as the US blockade persists. Despite this, at least ten Indian vessels have crossed the strait since the onset of the conflict, with the latest, Desh Garima, passing through on Saturday. The ongoing tensions have raised concerns over shipping safety and increased costs for maritime operations.
