Assam Police Arrests 21-Year-Old Linked to Pakistan Terror Group
The Assam police’s Special Task Force (STF) arrested 21-year-old Fazal Islam Barbhuiyan in Hailakandi on August 26 for alleged connections with the Pakistan-based Shahzad Bhatti Network (SBN). This arrest follows three previous arrests made on July 25, bringing the total to four. The STF indicated that Barbhuiyan was under surveillance after his name emerged during interrogations related to earlier arrests. Officials reported finding incriminating documents and evidence of contact with terrorist groups via social media. The investigation began in May, linked to local residents and the SBN, which is believed to have connections with Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). The STF is monitoring social media activities in Assam for potential further arrests.
