Indian Space Startups Achieve Milestones with Global Collaborations and Launches

In May, Indian space startups made significant advancements, highlighted by GalaxEye's successful launch of Mission Drishti, the world's first OptoSAR satellite, aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9. This satellite supports various applications, including defence and disaster management. Bengaluru's Pixxel secured a contract with the US National Reconnaissance Office for remote sensing capabilities and announced a partnership to develop India's first orbital data centre satellite, Pathfinder, set for launch in Q4 2026. Additionally, Skyroot Aerospace raised $60 million, becoming India's first space-tech unicorn, with plans to launch its Vikram-1 rocket later this year. Nine Indian companies participated in Space Meetings Veneto 2026, forging multiple partnerships. IN-SPACe has also invited private entities to express interest in Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle technology transfer, aiming to enhance private sector involvement in India's space industry.
