Delhi Air Quality Deteriorates Amid Political Tensions Over Pollution

Delhi's air quality index (AQI) has crossed 400, prompting the implementation of GRAP III measures. The average AQI reached 382, with severe pollution reported in areas like Punjabi Bagh and DTU, both at 455. Stubble burning incidents in Punjab have surged to 3,144, contributing to the city's air quality issues. Authorities have imposed 54.55 lakh rupees in fines on 1,077 farmers for environmental violations. GRAP III includes restrictions on construction activities and vehicle usage in Delhi and surrounding districts. Despite previous measures, pollution levels are expected to remain severe, with forecasts indicating continued poor air quality for the next six days.
