Search Operations Underway in Manipur After Assam Rifles Ambush
Security forces in Manipur's Ukhrul district have initiated search operations following the ambush that killed two Assam Rifles personnel on July 6. The operations, which began on July 10, involve the Assam Rifles, Border Security Force, and Manipur Police, focusing on residential areas and forests. The deceased were identified as Warrant Officer Balwant Singh and Havildar CM Singh. Meanwhile, the Naga organisation NSCN IM has denied involvement in the attack and reaffirmed its commitment to the ceasefire agreement with the Centre. The ongoing ethnic violence in Manipur has resulted in over 260 deaths and thousands displaced over the past three years.
