Supreme Court orders SIT probe into BJP MLA's alleged murder case
The Supreme Court has directed the formation of a three-member special investigation team (SIT) to investigate allegations against BJP MLA Arvind Pateriya related to the murder of Salman Khan, a driver for a rival Congress candidate. The incident occurred during the 2023 Madhya Pradesh assembly elections. The SIT, headed by a senior IPS officer, is to be established within two days and must complete its investigation within two months. Eyewitness affidavits have been submitted, detailing the incident from November 17, 2023. The state has countered the allegations, claiming a separate case of attempted murder was filed against the former Congress MLA. The SIT is instructed to review all evidence without influence from prior investigations.
