Supreme Court Dismisses Centre's Appeal Against Defence Supplier Defsys
The Supreme Court has dismissed the Centre's appeal to continue the suspension of Defsys Solutions Private Limited, a defence supplier linked to the AgustaWestland VVIP chopper case. The court upheld a Delhi High Court ruling that quashed multiple suspension orders, citing a lack of new incriminating evidence against Defsys. The Central Bureau of Investigation acknowledged it had no fresh material indicating criminality. The Supreme Court's decision follows a history of repeated suspensions since December 2022, which the High Court described as a 'gross abuse of process.' Defsys has supplied defence equipment since 2007 and was first suspended in December 2022 amid ongoing investigations into the ₹3,600-crore helicopter deal, which was scrapped in 2014 due to corruption allegations.
