Supreme Court to Hear Punjab's Plea Against CBI Probe
The Supreme Court has agreed to hear the Punjab government's challenge to a high court order directing the CBI to investigate alleged corruption linked to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's office. The court declined an urgent hearing on Tuesday, stating the matter could be listed on Wednesday or Thursday. The high court had ordered the CBI to register an FIR and investigate claims involving senior officials, prompted by communications from the Enforcement Directorate. The Punjab government filed a special leave petition against this order, arguing that the high court's decision lacked sufficient evidence and raised concerns about federal structure interference ahead of elections.
