Amit Shah Addresses Border Security at Police Conference
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on July 9, 2026, emphasized the need for timely communication regarding demographic changes in border areas due to illegal migration. He stated that a demography mission has been established to study these patterns. Shah highlighted the Modi government's proactive approach to border security, including a quadrangular security grid. The conference, attended by Superintendents of Police from 119 border districts, aimed to enhance border security and infrastructure, which has increased by 400%. The government plans to fence the 1,610-km-long India-Myanmar border at a cost of ₹31,000 crore to address issues like infiltration and trafficking while ensuring the livability of border areas.
