IED Explosion Reported Along LoC in Poonch District
An explosion, suspected to be from an improvised explosive device (IED), occurred in the Satwal-Naki area of Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on Monday, prompting increased security measures. The blast happened near the zero line while a group was moving along the Pakistani side of the Line of Control (LoC). Casualties were reported, but the exact number of injuries or fatalities is not yet known. It remains unclear if the group involved were suspected terrorists or Pakistani security personnel. In a separate incident, Indian Army troops detected and destroyed two rusted landmines in the Mendhar sector on the same day. The Army has defused around a dozen landmines in the area over the past week, as heavy rainfall can expose these devices, posing potential risks.
