Delhi Bans Outdoor School Activities Amid Very Poor Air Quality

The Delhi government has ordered schools, colleges, and universities to postpone outdoor activities due to deteriorating air quality. This decision follows an advisory from the Commission for Air Quality Management, which noted that prolonged physical activity in high pollution levels poses serious health risks. As of Saturday, Delhi's air quality index (AQI) stood at 360, classified as 'very poor'. Health experts have warned that the combination of cold weather and pollution is particularly harmful to children. The Supreme Court has also requested the CAQM to consider delaying sports competitions scheduled for November and December. The Ministry of Earth Sciences predicts that air quality may remain in the 'very poor' to 'severe' category for the next six days.
