NTA Implements Reforms After NEET-UG 2026 Paper Leak Controversy

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has informed the Supreme Court about extensive reforms following the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak. In an affidavit, the NTA detailed measures including mandatory CCTV checks, mock drills, and forensic analysis of footage to enhance exam security. A High-Powered Steering Committee recommended these changes during a meeting on April 17, 2026. The NTA has also created 16 new senior positions and established 18 State-Level Coordination Committees and 621 District-Level Coordination Committees to improve oversight. The Supreme Court is reviewing the situation after the NEET-UG 2026 exam was cancelled on May 3 due to allegations of a paper leak, with a re-examination scheduled for June 21. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is personally supervising the response to the incident.
