PM Modi Concludes G-20 Summit in Johannesburg, Meets Global Leaders
Prime Minister Narendra Modi departed for New Delhi on November 23, 2025, after attending the G-20 Leaders’ Summit in Johannesburg. During the summit, he held bilateral meetings with leaders from Canada, Japan, Italy, South Africa, Jamaica, and the Netherlands, as well as IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva. Modi advocated for a global compact on artificial intelligence and emphasized the need for human-centric technology. He also addressed the India-Brazil-South Africa leaders’ summit, calling for UN Security Council reform. Modi proposed initiatives for clean energy transitions, countering the drug-terror nexus, and enhancing global healthcare responses. This summit marked the first G-20 meeting held in Africa, following the African Union's membership in the group during India's presidency in 2023.
