Flydubai Flight Makes Emergency Landing After Pilot Stabbing Incident

Updated 20 hours ago: The new version specifies that Israeli security agency Shin Bet is involved in the interrogation, mentions al-Hammami's intention to crash the flight into Ben Gurion Airport, notes that the incident led to an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, and states that UAE authorities have classified the event as a terrorist attack while examining al-Hammami's motives and potential links to outside groups.

Hamam al-Hammami, the co-pilot of Flydubai flight FZ1073, is under investigation for allegedly attempting a terrorist attack on 30 September. Israeli security agency Shin Bet is participating in the interrogation in the UAE, where al-Hammami reportedly expressed intentions to crash the flight into Ben Gurion Airport. He had previously considered hijacking another flight to Tel Aviv earlier this year. The incident, which involved an attack on Indian captain Smit Machchhar with an emergency axe, led to an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, with more than 180 passengers on board, most of them Israeli. UAE authorities have classified the event as a terrorist attack and are examining al-Hammami's motives and potential links to outside groups.
