NIA Court Issues Non-Bailable Warrant Against Hafiz Saeed
A special NIA court has issued a non-bailable warrant for Hafiz Saeed, chief of Lashkar-e-Taiba, in connection with the Pahalgam terror attack investigation. The warrant was issued on 8 July, following a supplementary chargesheet filed against Saeed, who is accused of evading arrest. The 76-year-old Saeed is designated a global terrorist by India and the US and is linked to the 2008 Mumbai attacks. The charges against him include violations of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967. The Pahalgam attack on April 22, 2022, resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals, primarily tourists. The NIA has stated that Saeed's arrest is essential for a thorough investigation.
