India Reports Improvements in Maternal and Child Health Indicators
The National Family Health Survey-6 indicates progress in maternal and child health in India. Institutional deliveries increased from 88.6% to 90.6%, while full vaccination for children aged 12-23 months rose from 83.8% to 87.1%. Stunting among children under five decreased from 35.5% to 29.3%, and severe wasting fell from 7.7% to 5.2%. The survey also noted a rise in health insurance coverage from 41% to 60.2% at the household level. Conducted from May 2023 to December 2024, the survey collected data from nearly 6.79 lakh households across 715 districts, providing insights into population, health, and nutrition indicators.
