Nearly 2,000 Missing After Flash Floods Along Nepal-Tibet Border

Updated 18 hours ago: The death toll increased from over 575 to 579, and new information was added regarding 320 missing Indians in Nepal, 400 stranded in Tibet, 153 who have safely entered Nepal, and India's provision of emergency relief supplies and medical assistance.

As search and rescue operations continue in Nepal, the death toll from recent floods has reached 579. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) reported that 320 Indians are still unaccounted for in Nepal, while 400 are stranded in Tibet. Of those stranded, 153 have safely entered Nepal. India has sent 57.5 tonnes of emergency relief supplies to Nepal and deployed a team of doctors to assist in rescue efforts. The Indian government is in contact with local authorities in both Nepal and China to facilitate the evacuation of stranded nationals. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has held meetings to assess the situation and coordinate relief efforts.
