NHRC Seeks Report on Nagpur Factory Blast That Killed 18 Workers
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has requested an explanation from the Maharashtra government regarding the deaths of at least 18 workers in a blast at an explosives manufacturing unit in Raulgaon, Nagpur, on March 1. The incident, which occurred in the packing section, also left 24 workers seriously injured. Initial investigations suggest potential violations of the Explosives Act and the Factories Act, leading to a case of culpable homicide against the factory management. The NHRC has issued notices to the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police, requiring a detailed report within two weeks. This report will cover the medical condition of the injured, investigation progress, and compensation status for victims' families.
