India, New Zealand Forge Strategic Partnership During Modi's Visit
India and New Zealand have established the 'India-New Zealand Strategic Partnership: Roadmap to 2030' to enhance defence and security cooperation. Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Christopher Luxon announced this initiative, which includes the implementation of a 2025 MoU on defence cooperation. The countries will engage regularly at defence ministry and service levels. They will also collaborate under Combined Task Force 150 in 2025, with New Zealand in command and India as deputy commander, focusing on countering narcotics smuggling and terrorism. Both nations aim to strengthen maritime cooperation through a new maritime cooperation arrangement and mutual logistics support in the Indo-Pacific region.
