General NS Raja Subramani and Admiral Krishna Swaminathan Assume Command

General NS Raja Subramani has taken over as India’s new chief of defence staff, succeeding General Anil Chauhan, who retired on Saturday. Admiral Krishna Swaminathan also assumed the role of navy chief, replacing Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi. These appointments come as the armed forces pursue theaterisation, aimed at integrating military resources for future conflicts. Subramani is expected to expedite the establishment of joint services commands, a key goal of this reform. He is the third CDS from the army, following Generals Bipin Rawat and Chauhan. Swaminathan's tenure will align with India's plans to finalize a multi-billion dollar deal for next-generation submarines.
