77 Pilgrims Missing in Tibet After Flash Floods Strike Immigration Centre
Seventy-seven pilgrims from Sadhguru's Kailash pilgrimage group are unaccounted for after a flash flood hit an immigration centre in Gyirong, Tibet. The group was returning from the Kailash pilgrimage when the flood struck, inundating the building. Currently, 495 pilgrims have returned safely, while 743 remain in Tibet, and 148 are in Nepal. Rescue operations are ongoing amid severe flooding and landslides along the Nepal-Tibet border, with authorities warning of potential heavy casualties. In a separate incident, about 50 pilgrims from Tamil Nadu were stranded in Nepal due to landslips triggered by the floods. The Tamil Nadu government has initiated rescue efforts for these stranded individuals.
