Supreme Court to Review Controversial Changes to Voter Registration Form 6

The Supreme Court clarified on October 12 that it has not approved or disapproved the new Form 6 used for voter registration. The court stated that the modified form was not in existence during its May ruling on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in Bihar. The changes, which require applicants to disclose ancestral links to previous electoral rolls, have faced scrutiny for not following legal procedures. The Election Commission had claimed the court upheld the new form, a statement the Supreme Court refuted. The matter will be examined further on October 27, amidst ongoing challenges to the Election Commission's authority regarding electoral roll revisions.
