Navy Sailor Arrested for Leaking Information to Pakistani Operative
Two individuals, Annam Sai Varaprasad and Pradeep Mukherjee, were arrested in Andhra Pradesh for allegedly sharing sensitive defence information with Pakistan intelligence operatives. Varaprasad, a civilian driver for Naval officers, and Mukherjee, an Indian Navy employee, reportedly used encrypted communication channels to transmit classified information about defence establishments. Their arrests followed 'Operation Firewall–2026,' which targeted an espionage module comprising 18 suspects, including 13 Naval personnel. The suspects face charges under the Official Secrets Act and other related laws. Varaprasad is currently in judicial remand until October 14, while Mukherjee has been remanded in Vijayawada. The investigation into the broader espionage network is ongoing.
