Naga Group Demands Return of Severed Head in Manipur Violence
A Naga civil society organisation has issued a 48-hour ultimatum for the return of the severed head of 52-year-old Ajinbou R., allegedly killed in a militant attack in Kangpokpi district. His headless body was brought to the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences for post-mortem. A video purportedly showing Ajinbou's head among militants has circulated online. The Joint Tribes Council Manipur stated that post-mortem will not proceed until the head is returned for a dignified burial. Recent violence in Manipur has resulted in at least nine deaths over two days, following the killing of a 22-year-old mother in Kamjong district. More than 50 people have died in ongoing conflicts between Kuki and Naga tribes since February this year.
