North Korea Launches Intermediate-Range Missile, South Korea Responds
North Korea launched an intermediate-range strategic missile using a hypersonic system, state media reported. The missile, fired at dawn on Saturday, flew northeast and struck a target about 1,000 kilometers away. Kim Jong Un emphasized the need to demonstrate the reliability of strategic weapons. In response, South Korea's military increased surveillance and readiness, analyzing the missile with US authorities. The South Korean National Security Office held an emergency meeting, urging North Korea to cease launches that violate UN Security Council resolutions and to work towards peace on the Korean Peninsula.
