Delhi Draft Electoral Rolls Flag Higher Muslim Discrepancies
An analysis of Delhi's draft electoral rolls revealed that Muslims, who constitute 13.6% of the 97.54 lakh voters, accounted for 20.3% of those flagged for 'logical discrepancies.' This discrepancy indicates that Muslims were 60% more likely to be flagged compared to non-Muslims. Of the 33.12 lakh flagged electors, 19.33 lakh were identified for logical discrepancies based on eight reasons, with 30% of those flagged under family size indicators being Muslims. For every 1,000 Muslim electors, 318 were flagged, compared to 197 non-Muslims. The Election Commission of India’s ERONET software, rather than Electoral Registration Officers, determined these flags, raising questions about the criteria used. In contrast, a similar analysis in Bihar showed Muslims made up 18.4% of deleted electors, closely aligned with their adult population share.
