Blast in Kabul Hotel Kills Several, Injures Many
A blast occurred on Gulfaroshi Street in Kabul's Shahr-e-Naw area on January 19, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries, according to the Taliban's Interior Ministry. The explosion took place near a Chinese restaurant, with reports indicating that two Chinese citizens were seriously wounded. An Afghan security guard was also killed, and the restaurant sustained significant damage. Shahr-e-Naw is generally regarded as one of the more secure districts in Kabul, which has seen a decrease in violence since the Taliban's return to power in 2021. However, the Islamic State remains active in the region, posing a continued threat.
