Mother-in-law of Twisha Sharma Arrested Amid Dowry Death Investigation

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Giribala Singh, mother-in-law of Twisha Sharma, following allegations of dowry-related harassment leading to Twisha's death on 12 May. The Madhya Pradesh High Court cancelled Giribala's anticipatory bail, allowing for her arrest after key evidence was deemed overlooked by a trial court. Giribala Singh faces multiple charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961. Her son, Samarth Singh, Twisha's husband, is already in custody. The case has garnered national attention due to Twisha's background as a model and actor, highlighting ongoing issues related to dowry deaths in India. The CBI is conducting further investigations into the circumstances surrounding her death.
