Uttarakhand Faces Severe Weather: Red Alerts Issued Amid Flood Risks

Torrential rains continue to affect Uttarakhand, leading to landslides and school closures in Rudraprayag. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red alerts for Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital, and Champawat districts. The Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers are nearing danger levels, with the Alaknanda at 623.153 metres and the Mandakini at 622.230 metres. Heavy rainfall has disrupted traffic on 107 routes statewide. The IMD forecasts extremely heavy rain in isolated areas of Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital, and Champawat. Residents near rivers are advised to stay away from waterways and heed safety advisories. The ongoing monsoon has also caused significant disruptions in other states, including Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
